Geneva’s Old Town

The Vieille-Ville is the largest historic town in Switzerland, and is dominated by St. Peter’s Cathedral, the symbolic location of the Reformation. Climb the 157 steps to the top of the tower for a unique panorama of the city. Then take a stroll in the charming surrounding alleys and passageways, each telling its own story about Geneva’s history.

Quartier des Nations

The Quartier des Nations is the heart of international Geneva. It’s the place where you will find the United Nations Palace, housing the European site of the United Nations (UN) and open to visits. Located nearby, the International Museum of the Red Cross is the only one dedicated to the work of the famous creator of the organization, Henri Dunant. It is also where the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees or the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights have their headquarters. In the central square, the giant amputated chair, a symbol of the fight against antipersonnel mines is to be admired.

CERN

What are the great questions of contemporary physics? What is the Higgs Boson and what does it tell us about the origins of the Universe? What is the role of CERN, its focus and objectives? What are the experiments conducted on its premises?

CERN invites the public to discover the mysteries of the Universe and the work of the world’s biggest physics laboratory through free of charge guided tours and permanent exhibitions.

Patek Philippe Museum

The Patek Philippe Museum is home to the prestigious creations of the Geneva-based firm of master watchmakers, which was founded in 1839. Discover how a passion for timepieces has brought together an extraordinary display of watches, musical automata and portrait miniatures from the 16th to the 19th century, in addition to a library dedicated entirely to horology and its related subjects.

Artlab building

Designed by the Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, this prestigious building, open to the public, hosts three distinct spaces, dedicated to the dialogue between science and culture. With this project, EPFL is highlighting the Digital Humanities. Like other EPFL buildings, the ArtLab will undoubtedly become a must for users of the site and a place of pilgrimage for lovers of science, art, music and architecture.

The Mechanical Engineering building

The Mechanical Engineering building designed by architect Dominique Perrault hosts the Discovery Learning Labs, an innovative teaching project meant to encourage students to engage in experimentation and learning through discovery. The building also holds interdisciplinary research laboratories run by the School of Engineering, a space for testing drones and a lecture hall.

EPFL Innovation Park
